In recognition of Remembrance Day, residents of Sunridge Gardens were invited to display pictures and stories of their loved ones who fought for our freedom and for democracy. This special commemorative display filled quickly with the dear photos of proud young men in uniform eager to serve their country.
On Monday, November 11 we held a special prayer service for our residents beginning with an opening prayer in remembrance of all who served and are serving in the continuing fight for freedom and democracy. Our residents then held two minutes of silence. Poems honoring those who served were read and our Glee Club as well as all those attending sang “Amazing Grace”, “White Cliff’s of Dover” and then in closing “Oh Canada”. To conclude, a Sunridge Gardens resident presented a handmade laurel wreath where everyone in attendance placed their poppy. This vigil was a well attended solemn affair and was greatly appreciated by our residents.
