Imagine a concert featuring musical superstars like Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton, Meatloaf, Elton John and Tina Turner—no need to imagine! The Magnolia Gardens staff team entertained residents with their musical tributes to these superstars at their recent lip sync competition, and the results were hilarious.
“The residents were laughing so hard,” says Holly Dorn, recreation manager who also hosted the event as her alter ego, Dolly Parton. “It was great to see them enjoying themselves so much. We host a lot of terrific musical events through the year, but this one was a crowd pleaser because it featured the staff who our residents know and love.”
“Our staff were eager to participate,” says Pam Murphy, General Manager for Magnolia Gardens. “That’s the kind of culture that we have here—they’re willing to be a little crazy to bring a smile to our residents’ faces.
From the flirty antics of Sonny & Cher singing I Got You Babe to the crazy careening of Meatloaf, the staff had residents in stitches through the night. The evening ended with a Broadway bang Pam stepped out from behind the curtain and danced her way through Liza Minelli’s Cabaret to a roar of applause.
