Since 2014, Bria Communities has proudly partnered with Langley Senior Resources Society (LSRS) to invest in a centre that brings Langley seniors together for connection, learning, and fun.

For more than 40 years, LSRS has been a cornerstone of senior life in Langley. As one of the largest and most dynamic seniors centres in British Columbia, LSRS provides social, recreational, and educational programs, as well as health and support services for adults aged 50 and up. With over 45 staff members and 160 volunteers, this non-profit society plays a vital role in keeping local seniors active, engaged, and empowered.

“We believe LSRS is truly one of the best senior centres in BC,” says Janice Miller, Marketing & Community Engagement Manager for Bria Communities. “They have their ear to the ground on issues that seniors care about, and they’re advocating for and supporting seniors in the most important ways.”

From Burgers to Brain Health: Partnership in Action

From serving burgers and pie to hosting dances, parties, and special events, Magnolia Gardens and Sunridge Gardens leaders have invested in (and enjoyed) this community-building partnership.

In recent years, Bria’s sponsorship has focused on the Monday Morning Talk Show—a popular, hour-long educational session open to all seniors in the community. Each week, 30 to 55 people gather to learn about a wide range of topics, including brain health, emergency preparedness, local history, and global travel.

“Members tell us what they want to learn about,” explains Sherri Martin, Manager of Programs and Member Engagement at LSRS. “We’ve featured everything from presentations by the Alzheimer Society to local adventurers like Nicolas Von Zill, who shared his story of walking across South America in the 1980s.

Learning and Connection for Everyone

The Monday Morning Talk Show creates an open door for Langley seniors to come and expore what’s available to them at LSRS. . “We’re not an exclusive club, we’re open to everyone,” says Sherri. “Many seniors don’t know that you don’t have to be a member to enjoy the centre. They can dine in the café, use our computers, shop in our thrift store, socialize and participating in programs like the popular Monday Morning Talk Show.”

“Seniors always want to learn—they value discovery,” Sherri notes, “The Monday Morning Talk Show gives them a chance to explore new technology, hear other seniors’ stories, and access helpful health information and be informed on new trends. It opens up a big world in the next chapter of life.”

Recently, the program’s impact has even sparked large-scale events for LSRS. “Our recent event with David Suzuki began as an idea to learn about David Suzuki at the Monday Morning Talk Show,” Martin shares. “We reached out to him, and he was more than willing to come join us in person. More than 200 seniors attended his talk in person, with another 500 joining online!”

Looking Ahead: Growth and Connection

In 2026, LSRS will expand programming to Fort Langley, extending its reach and continuing its mission to provide accessible education and engagement for local seniors. This includes bringing the Monday Morning Talk Show to a whole new audience of Langley Township seniors. Bria Communities is proud to help make that growth possible through ongoing sponsorship and partnership.

“Building community is one of our core values,” notes Janice Miller. “We work hard on doing it within our residences, and we’re deeply committed to doing it for all the seniors in our neighbourhoods.” Through partnerships like the one with Langley Senior Resources Society, Bria Communities is building stronger, more connected communities where every senior has the opportunity to belong, learn, and thrive.
