The Virtual Dementia Tour™ is a powerful evidence-based experiential training session that builds a greater understanding of dementia by temporarily altering participants’ physical and sensory abilities. P.K. Beville, a geriatric specialist, developed the tour to give caregivers, family, first responders, and health care providers a first-hand experience of the challenges of living with dementia.

Bria Communities leaders are among a handful of trained and authorized Virtual Dementia Tour facilitators in Canada.

After all staff received the training, the team opened sessions to the public. Since 2018, more than 90 civic leadership, first responders, industry professionals and Fraser Health staff in Langley and South Delta have participated in training sessions.

Sessions are 30-60 minutes and consist of a brief experiential component followed by a debriefed with other participants and trained professionals who work with those living with dementia every day.
