This spring, Langley seniors who love southern gospel music are in for a musical treat! Sunridge Gardens and Magnolia Gardens are sponsoring a free gospel concert on April 20, featuring Steve’ Elvis Elite’ Elliott.
The concert will take place from 1:30-2:30 pm on Wednesday, April 20 at Town + Field Church in Langley (20719 48 Ave.)
“Live music is one of the things that we’ve all really missed over the past couple of years,” notes Janice Miller, Marketing Manager for Bria Communities. “Now that provincial health restrictions have lifted, seniors are venturing out a bit more, and it feels like we should have a party. We knew right away that we wanted to bring in Steve Elliott,” says Janice.
Steve’ Elvis Elite’ Elliott has had a successful career as an Elvis tribute artist since winning an Elvis tribute contest in 2004. He has been a crowd favourite at Sunridge Gardens Seniors Community. “Steve is an excellent entertainer, but his Gospel show is especially good. It’s inspirational, and I’ve seen quite a few misty eyes as he’s performed those Southern Gospel songs tug on your heartstrings.”
Gospel music holds a special place in Steve’s heart, and he believes it held a special place in Elvis’ heart as well. “Back in the early days, [Elvis’] mom took him to the Baptist church, and that’s where he was exposed to gospel music,” says Steve. “By the age of 10, he knew all the songs. Southern Gospel was his roots.”
The free concert is open to older adults ages 65+; however, seating is reserved. You can register to reserve your seat ahead of time by calling Sunridge Gardens Seniors Community at 604.510.5091.
Seating is limited, and Janice is expecting a full house. Don’t wait to register, or you might be disappointed! Doors open at 1 pm and the concert starts at 1:30.
