Langley Mayor Unveils LEED Award at Sunridge Gardens

The Canada Green Building Council recently awarded the Sunridge Gardens seniors’ community LEED Gold certification for New Construction. On Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2:00pm, Mayor Jack Froese will formally unveil the LEED plaque at Sunridge Gardens.

Sunridge Gardens is the largest LEED certified seniors community project in the Township of Langley. Sunridge Gardens is built to support the Township of Langley’s sustainability commitment to energy efficiency, low carbon impact and environmental standards.

Developed as part of Century Group’s Bria Communities portfolio, Sunridge Gardens is a highly energy-efficient seniors’ residence with 145 homes integrated with amenities such as a grand dining room, living area and lounge, games room, and state of the art fitness room. In addition to community gardens on the ground level, the project is walking distance to Murrayville Square shopping and restaurants.

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system that provides third-party verification that a building is designed and built using strategies intended to improve energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources.

Mayor Jack Froese of the Township of Langley as well as Sean Hodgins, President of Century Group will be in attendance along with Langley council members.
