The Langley Meals on Wheels Food and Friends Christmas Lunch was brightened by Bria red this past Friday. Bria Communities staff served and celebrated with seniors as sponsors of this year’s event.
Foods and Friends for Seniors
Each month Meals on Wheels volunteers host Food and Friends events at venues around Langley to provide a great meal and great social connections for seniors. The Christmas lunch is the culmination of a year of connections. One hundred fifty seniors and volunteers dressed in their Christmas finest and joined together for a festive meal, entertainment, and the opportunity to socialize.
A Special Sponsorship
Magnolia Gardens and Sunridge Gardens sponsored this year’s event with help from Century Group’s community engagement fund. The sponsorship included the rental of the beautiful venue, entertainment by the Beauty Shop Dolls (who never disappoint), gift bags for every attendee, and even transportation in the Bria bus for seniors who needed a ride to the event.
By far, the most significant contribution came from staff who volunteered. From rolling tables to and unstacking chairs early in the morning, to wrestling table clothes and table centrepieces, to serving food and washing dishes, this staff team gave 110% effort to make this event awesome.
Thank You
“Your helping hands, event experience and support was very appreciated,” remarked Shannon Woykin, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels. “For the first time were were able to raise money at this event. $1,200, was raised to subsidize 185 meals for those in need, all because of the financial support Bria provided.”
Bria Communities offers special thanks to Sean Hodgins, president of our parent company, Century Group and the Century Group Community Engagement Team for making it possible for us to be extremely generous to seniors in Langley!
