New Years at The Waterford

Once again The Waterford celebrated New Year’s Eve in style. Our theme this year took us all the way to New Orleans.  The evening started off with a decadent meal prepared by our Chef, Steve, and his staff. The choices of dinner entrees were either  West Coast Salmon pan seared with cognac infused lobster sauce or Alberta AAA filet mignon beef wellington with mushrooms in a golden pastry with red wine demi-glaze.  So good!

After dinner two jazz players greeted the residents as they entered the lounge area. The room was filled with beautiful decorations of purple, gold and green. Our Christmas tree was transformed to the Mardi Gras theme with bright colorful masks and purple garland. There was so much excitement in the air.  It really did feel like New Orleans!

If your toes weren’t tapping to the Dixieland sounds from the fabulous four piece band (Jim Armstrong and The City Shakers) you were up on the dance floor dancing the night away. There was something for everyone.  Songbooks were prepared ahead for those who like to sing along to their favourite tunes.

As the evening came to a close all eyes were glued to a T.V. screen which showed Dick Clark’s New Years Eve party in Time Square  hosted by Ryan Seacrest.  Together we all bellowed out the count down loud and clear. Lots of hugs and good wishes were exchanged by all.  It  didn’t quite end there, the party continued for another hour or so.

When returning back to work couple of days later the residents were still talking about what a wonderful evening they had.

From all of us at The Waterford to all of you, have a very Happy New Year!
