Sunridge Gardens participates in the Ice Bucket Challenge

Sunridge recently held a ‘Silver Fox Walk, Roll and Stroll’ where residents were able to collect pledges and take part in a short walk around the neighbourhood in support of Terry Fox. They also had entertainer Gordy Van come and play his acoustic guitar while the residents and staff walked. Upon returning to Sunridge, the residents were treated to fruit smoothies.

A few weeks prior, Karolina Linder, Recreation Coordinator, put out ten small boxes, each with a photo of a staff member who had volunteered to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge. All the money raised also went to the Terry Fox Foundation. The staff who volunteered were David Collins, Chef, Shannon Saunders, General Manager, Jane Bryce, Marketing Manager, Richard Wiseman, Cook, Douglas Stewart, Recreation Assistant, Guri Sanghera, Receptionist, Lynsay Wood, Server, Melissa Horton, Cook, Scott Watson, Maintenance person,  and Karolina Linder, Recreation Coordinator.

Residents, family members and staff could donate money into the boxes for the staff member they wanted to see participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge and the three staff members with the most money in their box at the end of the fundraiser had to participate. The ‘winners’ were Jane Bryce, Scott Watson and Douglas Stewart. It was lots of fun watching them get ice water dumped on them and the residents loved it!

In total they raised just over $1000 for the Terry Fox Foundation! Congratulations Sunridge team!!
