As Sunridge Garden’s residents bid farewell to August, many residents took part in a Saturday afternoon “Shop and Swap” in our Tea Lounge. The idea for this event actually came from a resident who had heard that this type of event had been done at another residence to great success. Residents reserved a table and brought down their items to sell, trade or give away. Others just came down to peruse the tables.
It really was a wonderful social experience for all involved. Our residents are of course all too aware of the need to “downsize” when moving in to a smaller residence. Often however, what we possess has so much meaning and though our lives may not have need or space for it any longer, it is comforting to know that someone else can gain enjoyment from it, and it doesn’t hurt to gain a little extra cash either!
