It is a time of giving and sharing and that is exactly what the residents of Sunridge Gardens were doing.  Basics For Babies and The Langley Christmas Bureau  were this years’  charities of choice for these residents. Basics for Babies is in partnership with Food Banks BC to assist in providing for the tiniest in need in our  communities. The Langley Christmas Bureau distributes toys every year to almost 1800 kids ranging from new born to high school. It is the only Christmas Bureau from Vancouver to Hope that operates solely on a volunteer basis.  The resident knitting group was especially excited to help with donations. There was much chatter and laughter while they sat among lively colors of wool and patterns. They couldn’t wait to start creating  little sweaters or blankets for babies in need.  Other residents were out shopping for toys of every kind and it wasn’t long before the table became overflowing with dolls, trucks, books and games.  Then the day came to deliver the donated gifts. Box after box were loaded onto the Sunridge bus and with the residents along for the ride it made its  way to the Christmas Bureau. It was a hive of activity while the volunteers  helped to unload the boxes off the bus. The atmosphere was one of satisfaction as the residents watched their donations being added to the collection on the shelves and the spirit of Christmas could be felt all around.
