Tom & Gail Write A New Chapter

Tom & Gail Miller

As new residents of Magnolia Gardens, Gail and I would like to share some of our thoughts on living here.

We moved into our new residence on June 1 of this year. Prior to living here, we had lived in Delta and Surrey for over forty-five years, both in a home and a condominium.

Prior to moving to Magnolia Gardens, the only exposure to this way of living was the experiences that we had visiting older relatives in the 1970s who lived in retirement homes in the Ottawa area. Needless to say, we approached our moving here with an equal amount of fear and anticipation. What a pleasant surprise when we realized that Magnolia Gardens had no resemblance to those senior residences that our relatives endured in the 70s and ’80s.

Gail is thrilled that she may never have to plan, buy or cook another meal. Both Gail and I have found all the meals served to us here to be of high quality, nutritious and served by a staff committed to satisfying our every need.

We are pleased to discover the many activities that are available for us to take part in, from live entertainment to bingo and poker. Every day is offered all sorts of activities for us to get involved in.

At present my favourite activities are the exercise programs offered three times per week as well as the walking program. With all the fine food served I need an exercise program.

If I could offer any advice to newer residents, it would be to take it easy, get to know your new home and write a wonderful and exciting chapter in your new life.
