Senior Housing at Bria

You feel it the first time you walk in… the warm, inviting mood. Our residents know it, and our visitors tell us: “It feels different here.” What is it, then, that makes Bria Communities so unique?

We asked our residents at The Wexford, our newest seniors’ community in Tsawwassen, what they think the differences are.

“You’re family-owned,” says Bill, who retired from a career in construction with BC Hydro. “This makes a big difference to me because reputation is everything. I like that the president of the company lives right here in Tsawwassen. He’s a local.”

Bria Communities is owned by Century Group, founded 60 years ago by George Hodgins who envisioned more complete neighbourhoods built for the people who live there. This tradition is carried on by his son, Sean, who opened The Waterford in Tsawwassen’s town centre in 2003 and The Wexford at Northgate earlier this year.

“It’s also the people,” says Bernyce, who moved into The Wexford on day one. “We’re lucky to have them.” She’s talking about our staff who know, appreciate and respect our residents completely.

Bria staff are more engaged with the residents’ lives, and they have an amazing amount of empathy for their ups and downs. This quality is evident in Bria’s Resident Satisfaction Survey. Bria staff rank the highest with our residents — from management to reception, housekeeping, dining and maintenance.

Every year, in order to measure our success and challenges, we contract Unifocus, a US-based leader in customer-centred survey tools, to assess our resident engagement and satisfaction.

Last year’s survey produced remarkable results: residents placed Bria Communities in the top 10% (90th percentile) under the Unifocus Resident Satisfaction Benchmark.

Other high scores included ‘the overall Bria experience’, our personal level of care, and our products and services, including meals and recreation.

“At first, I didn’t want to come here,” continues Bernyce, about The Wexford, her new home. “But then I decided to move in. Everyone here was so outstanding. Until you move in, you don’t know what its like.”

Now, you can discover the ‘Bria Difference’ yourself. The Wexford now has two guest ‘Staycation’ one bedroom suites available. The package includes lunch and dinner (full-time residents enjoy an open meal plan), all seasonal events and happy hours, all recreation programs, and access to the BriaFit™ exercise room, secure underground parking, internet, and telephone with long distance calling.
