We have had a very busy and exciting month here at Sunridge Gardens this December and our residents have enjoyed lots of different activities and outings to celebrate the holidays. We have been delighted by lots of Christmas entertainment with performances varying from sing a long styles to fiddle music to country and western. We have also hosted a caroling group from Langley Canadian Reform Church as well as various children’s choirs and music school recitals.
Our residents travelled on our Bria bus to the Festival of Lights at Vandusen Gardens one evening and they also enjoyed Christmas light tours locally here in Langley on our bus. We held a toy drive for the Langley Christmas Bureau which gave residents an opportunity to donate Christmas gifts to needy families and bring some Christmas joy to our community. Our residents have enjoyed activities such as Christmas corsage making and gingerbread house decorating as well.
We even went Christmas caroling and spread some Christmas cheer to our community partners nearby. This past Thursday evening we held our annual family Christmas party here at Sunridge Gardens and we had a wonderful turnout of over 200 family members and friends including about 50 children, all overjoyed with the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and list off their Christmas wishes. Our guests were treated to delicious sweets and treats prepared by our Chef and kitchen staff as well as cheerful musical entertainment by a pianist and vocalist named Brian Gimbel.
Our Glee Club will have a special Christmas performance on Christmas Eve and some of our residents will also participate in a Resident Gift Exchange. With all the excitement and hustle and bustle of the last couple of weeks it is going to be a real treat to spend Christmas together with our loved ones. Many of our residents have invited family members for Christmas dinner here in our dining room which of course will feature a fabulous feast of turkey with all the fixings. Soon it will be time to ring in the New Year with more celebration, music and special treats. Oh what fun! Merry Christmas everyone!
