The British Columbia we live in today didn’t happen by accident. It was built by a generation who invested their time, energy, and dreams into our province. They grew families, started and supported businesses, nurtured their neighbourhoods, and led their communities.
From Vancouver Island to Revelstoke, and Haida Gwaii to Metro Vancouver, we experience the ripple effects of their commitment every single day. That’s why, during BC Seniors Week, we celebrate the incredible people who make Beautiful British Columbia truly beautiful.
In 2002, by proclamation of Queen Elizabeth, the first week of June was designated as BC Seniors Week in perpetuity. Running from June 1–7, 2026, this week is our province-wide opportunity to celebrate and recognize the extraordinary older adults in our midst.
We proudly join our voices with all those saying a heartfelt “thank you!” to BC Seniors. But we also want to look toward the future and say, “Don’t stop!”
Don’t stop being active! Don’t stop raising your voice! Don’t stop mentoring and volunteering! Don’t stop growing! Don’t stop laughing! Don’t stop leading the way!
For the seven days of BC Seniors Week, Bria Communities residents are putting that exact “don’t stop” attitude into action. Each day, offers opportunities for Bria seniors to engage all seven of the International Council on Active Aging’s dimensions of wellness. From laughter yoga and scrabble games to dance parties and nature walks, our communities are packed with opportunities to activate, connect, and keep going.
But the momentum doesn’t stop at our front doors. Out in our neighbouring communities of Langley and South Delta, local seniors’ societies and municipalities are throwing open their doors with an incredible array of events.
It is the perfect invitation for older adults across the region to discover new hobbies, be inspired by those around them, and refuse to stop getting engaged.
