“The problem is that you don’t know what you don’t know,” says Erin as she describes her initial exploration of the world of supportive senior living and care in BC. “You really need someone with know-how who can help you figure it out.”
In her late-40s, Erin is part of the sandwich generation, simultaneously launching her kids into the world and grappling with her parents’ declining health. She’s not alone.
“Most of my friends are in the same boat as me,” she explains. “We’re embarking on the journey of caring for aging parents, and we don’t necessarily know where to begin.”
When she discovered Bria Communities’ free downloadable resource, the Guide to Senior Living in BC, things started to click into place.
“I found this guide extremely helpful,” she says. “It’s user-friendly and provides a wealth of information. There’s enough detail that you start to understand how things work, but it’s not overwhelming.”
The Guide to Senior Living in BC is a free 18-page digital booklet loaded with expert advice, helpful tools, links to resources and industry insight.
“There is a lot of confusion and misconceptions surrounding housing and care options for older British Columbians. And often the topic involves complicated emotions or family dynamics,” says Tanya Snow, Director of Bria Communities. “People need help navigating their way through.”
For 21 years, the Bria Communities team has been guiding people through these conversations. “I don’t know where to start is a phrase we hear all the time,” says Snow. We’re always happy to share our expertise. And the Guide to Senior Living takes it one step further, giving people something in their hands that they can review, digest and share.”
The Guide to Senior Living features insights on the world of senior living, subsidies and support programs, resources and tools, as well as hints on how to live safely at home, and much more.
“Your retirement home could be your best home yet,” says Tanya Snow, “And finding your way there doesn’t have to be complicated or stressful, especially if you have the help of experts along the way.”
