Magnolia Gardens featured in the Langley Advance!

Three Langley seniors’ agencies joined forces, with the help of Vancity and TransLink, to create an affordable bus-sharing program for seniors. Magnolia Gardens, one of our Bria communities, helped found the bus co-op, which is believed to be the first of its kind in North America.
Senior Bus Co-Op at Magnolia Gardens

Since the cost of maintaining a large bus is such a drain for individual seniors’ communities, the idea of sharing the resource was a great solution. Members of the co-op simply provide a driver and pay a per-hour rate to use the buses in the fleet.

Currently the co-op only operates in Langley, but they are considering expanding the program to White Rock and Surrey. This program saves significant amounts of money for seniors’ residences that used to own and maintain their own buses, such as Magnolia, and makes field trips and excursions possible for seniors’ communities that previously didn’t have access to large enough buses to transport residents.

Congratulations to our team at Magnolia Gardens for their part in initiating this innovative program!
