Easter is an opportunity to celebrate family, spring, faith, and…chocolate. There are so many ways to connect with seniors and engage in meaningful, fun activities that promote wellness.
The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) identifies seven dimensions of wellness that keep us feeling our best as we age. Whether you are a family member planning a visit with Grandma and Grandpa or a Life Enrichment professional looking for fresh ideas, these Easter activities from the Bria Communities Lifestyle & Wellness calendar are perfect for nurturing the mind, body, and soul.
🌷 Digging Into Nature (Environmental & Physical Wellness)
- Scenic Drive: Plan a route that takes you past flowering trees, community gardens, parks and other green spaces.
- Patio Planters: Pick up some potted plants or bulbs and spend the afternoon making a patio planter together. It’s a wonderful tactile activity that leaves a lasting “gift” for a senior’s balcony or patio.
- Nursery Visit: No matter what the weather is like, your local nursery will be bustling with action. It’s the perfect opportunity for window shopping. Stop and smell the roses.
🎨 Traditions with a Twist (Intellectual & Vocational Wellness).
- Easter Hats: For the crafty seniors in your life, why not spend an afternoon decorating Easter bonnets, fascinators, or even top hats? It’s a fantastic intergenerational project that can spark creativity and laughter.
- Playing With Flowers: Grab a bunch of flowers—fresh or fake —and find a few cute containers to start creating. Making a beautiful arrangement for the Easter dinner table is a great way to practice fine motor skills while making something truly stunning.
- The Kitchen Connection: Baking is the ultimate “memory lane” activity. Whether it’s decorating sugar cookies with the grandkids or making a traditional Pasca, the smells and tastes of the kitchen create opportunities to connect over shared tasks and memories.
🐣 Connection and Calm (Social & Emotional Wellness)
- Baby Animals: There is nothing quite like the “aww” factor of a petting zoo or farm tour. Watching or cuddling a baby lamb or chick provides immediate emotional comfort and is a joy that spans every generation.
- Music & Mindfulness: Sometimes, a low-energy afternoon is exactly what’s needed. Put on a Spring/Easter playlist with songs from the 1930s through to the 2000s. Then set out some adult colouring pages and a collection of art supplies. It’s a relaxing way to sit together and talk without the pressure of a “big” event.
- Storytelling: Grab a coffee and tasty treat and share memories of Easters from the past. Ask about traditions, faith, and memorable events. You might be surprised by the stories that come out when you simply take a moment to listen.
A Season for Growing

Through events and activities connected to the Seven Dimensions of Wellness, Easter becomes more than a day on the calendar. We hope these ideas inspire you to get out there and make some beautiful spring memories this year!
