What better way to celebrate seniors in 2020 than with pie! On 01 October, National Seniors Day, Bria Communities will host a Drive-Thru Pie Pick-up giving away free pies to seniors in Tsawwassen and Langley.
National Seniors Day
Amid a challenging year, taking time to appreciate and celebrate seniors is incredibly necessary. National Seniors Day in Canada coincides with the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons; it celebrates and appreciates seniors’ contributions in our homes and communities.
Free Pie For Seniors
Bria Communities will be celebrating by offering the first 100 seniors who drive through The Wexford between 10 am – 12 pm and through Sunridge Gardens between 1 -3 pm on 01 October, a free pumpkin pie safely delivered to their car. As they drive to each of the buildings’ front doors, seniors will be met and directed by Bria staff to engage in contact tracing. Driving on, they will meet the second team of volunteers who will pass pie and other goodies through the car window with utmost care for their health and safety.
These are no ordinary pumpkin pies. This month Bria chefs participated in a contest to create the signature BriaCuisine pumpkin pie. The winning recipe will be baked and packaged in-house by BriaCuisine™ teams and not only delivered through car windows but also served to residents in-house in honour of National Seniors Day.
Safety First
Safety and health precautions are top priority in this event; pies will be prepared with Covid-19 food prep precautions. During the event contact tracing, appropriate PPE and social distancing will ensure seniors and Bria staff are protected.
