Monday, October 19th is a very important day for the residents of Magnolia Gardens. It is the day which gives them the opportunity to vote in the federal election, a right they have earned through much suffering and sacrifice, a right that many of their peers gave their lives for. The pride on their faces is a sight which brings a tear to the eye of those of us who know little or nothing of the sacrifices they endured.
Magnolia Gardens is an actual polling station, and has been for all Federal Elections since its opening in 2001. Many of our residents are mobility challenged, and it is a sign of respect from our elected officials that they are able to vote literally in their own home.
