The Waterford Beach Week Party

Beach week at The Waterford was a fun week of beach-themed crafts, seated beach volley ball and an outing to the Squamish River; all leading up to our Friday pub social. On Friday we even had a competition of who could dress up as the best tacky tourist! The staff and residents also got to try a special drink release from our new margarita machine! The entertainers sang some beach songs and other old favorites and even dressed in socks and sandals.

The residents went all out in their costumes with several dressed up in their loudest colors and biggest sunglasses, grass skirts and big hats. The two winners of the competition were well deserving… one resident had an entire section dedicated to her costume with a broken lawn chair, and beach umbrella and her “outfit” even included a pot belly and cigarette! How tacky! The other contestant was in her warmest parka, gloves and scarf with a sign saying “From Florida going on an Alaskan cruise in July”.

The effort made by all of the residents and staff made the Beach Social a huge success. The decor, costumes and music made it really feel like we were far away on a tropical vacation (with some very tacky companions of course).
