Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Was once heard by all, in the downtown streets of Vancouver as the paper boys rustled through the downtown core trying to sell every newspaper in hand for 5 cents a copy. Now it is a topic of discussion at The Waterford. Once per month we gather together in the library and discuss each decade starting with 1900.
We just finished Part 4- the 1940’s. One of our residents brought us original newspaper clippings which made a very interesting display in our lobby. This is an amazing program in that it gives residents an opportunity to reflect back on the earlier part of their lives. More than half shared their experiences while others listened. Our next ‘Making Headlines’ discussion will be held on Saturday, July 27th. The topic of course will be the 1950’s! Refreshments to follow with none other than Root beer floats!
