Every bite helps in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!

The mouth-watering smells of street foods are a sign that summer has arrived at The Wexford Seniors Community. It’s time once again for a delicious tradition that blends culinary creativity with community generosity.

Since 2017, residents and staff at The Wexford have hosted a culinary fundraiser to support the Alzheimer Society of BC. What started with gourmet hotdogs has evolved into a  Street Food Festival, complete with a variety of chef-driven eats, live music, raffles, and a shared mission to make a difference.

“Since the first fundraiser in 2017, The Wexford has been able to donate more than $22,000 to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC,” says General Manager Matt Baryluk, “We’ve seen the South Delta community rally for this event. Local businesses donate food and prizes, and our neighbours generously participate. It’s a cause that’s close to everyone’s hearts.”

This year, The Wexford (located at 1737 56 St in Tsawwassen) is firing up the grills on Saturday, June 21, from 11:30 am–2:00 pm, with a new lineup of irresistible treats crafted by Executive Chef Dan Davidge and the culinary team. Each item is just $5, and every dollar helps bring us closer to our $6,000 fundraising goal for the Alzheimer Society of BC.

This Year’s Menu Features:

  • House-Smoked Chipotle Pulled Pork with Cabbage Slaw, Fried Corn Ribs & House Queso
  • Grilled Tandoori Chicken Skewer with Mango Salsa & Onion Raita
  • Seasoned Corn Ribs in Queso (GF)
  • Smoked Salmon Street Stack with Pickled Onion, Dill Cream Cheese & “Beluga” Lentils
  • Local Strawberries in Melted Toblerone Chocolate Sauce in a Cup

Whether you’re a foodie, a music lover, or someone who cares deeply about supporting Alzheimer’s research, this event is for you. Expect live music, prizes, raffles and a whole lot of fun.

This Year’s Music

  • Jerry & Trevor Layton are a father and son duo who rock out to songs that span everyone’s favourite eras and genres. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.

“Our residents and our staff team really pull together to make this event work because we’ve all been impacted by this disease. It robs us of our friends, neighbours and partners,” says Matt, who notes that a significant portion of the funds raised at this event go directly to the Alzheimers Society of BC programs that support those living with Alzheimer’s and contribute to the research efforts to eliminate it.

Join us for an event where every bit counts. Let’s eat well, give generously, and support those affected by Alzheimer’s disease in our community.
